To the disinterested, I must add a "go fuck yourself," for it is my sacred duty. When I took my first oath, four years ago, I lost the most important thing in my world. When I took another oath, two weeks ago, it suddenly started to come back to me. I don't know if it will, or if this is just a terrible tease. Regardless, here are my feelings on the matter. Current Mood: odd November 18th, 2007September 29th, 2007: Al Khem WARNING: poetry It takes me a long time to finish a song/poem. I've been working on some of them for ten years now. These ones are about five years old, so I've certainly posted versions of them somewhere (maybe here, maybe not, can't remember) before. The other day, however, one of my favorites revealed the means by which I could perfect it in a flash. I post it here, with two others that compliment it, because its re-write has realized the true essence of the lyric I was originally trying to put forth. I find that this happens with every perfect song. I am a compulsive editor, but there is a sense of finality which I get sometimes that indicates to me that the books are closed on this particular piece of work. I have that sense about Venomous Empty... I wish I could say that it was because I was reading the Prince, but sadly that book has been packed away, so I am forced to paraphrase. “Because the two can hardly exist simultaneously, it is better to be feared than loved.” Or words to that effect. But what’s this? Can’t love and fear exist simultaneously? I think that if we look behind what motivates many of the psychological impulses, libidinous connections, and neurotic repression that Freud talks about in his analysis of the mind, we discover that fear is a necessary component of love.
